I acknowledge receiving from the Ritter Humane Society custody of this animal, as to which I solemnly promise:

I will promise humane care, giving the animal proper food, water, shelter, and exercise.

When I take my new pet to any veterinarian, it will be done at my sole expense.

I understand an animal that appears healthy when adopted may, despite our best efforts, become ill. Because an animal may have contracted an illness before or during its time at the shelter, and an illness may not show symptoms for up to 2-4 weeks. The animal I am adopting may or may not be ill at the time I take custody and ownership.

I understand that because my new pet may be incubating a disease but may not be showing any signs or Initial symptoms from this illness for up to 4 weeks, they will not be shedding the virus and no test will show positive for any disease. Therefore, I understand that it is my sole responsibility to keep my new pet separate from all my other animals. If I cannot or do not, Ritter Humane Society will not be responsible for the vet bills I incur for any of my pets.
